RC8.5 is a staging candidate. Core installation and rootless Kali tests have passed, while the remaining compatibility and release checks are still open.

On a clean VirtualBox installation, RC8.5 automatically provisioned subordinate UID/GID mappings for rootless Podman. The cumulative ISO passed its checksum and static qualification checks.
